Richie Havens, the folk star who was known for his protest songs and famous Woodstock performance has died. Mr. Havens reportedly died, unexpectedly, from a heart attack at his New Jersey home.
During his career he toured across the globe and went on to record 21 records. Along with his original material, Mr. Havens also did many covers of beloved pop and rock songs such as the Beatles “Here Comes the Sun” and “Strawberry Fields Forever.
“While his family greatly appreciates that Richie’s many fans are also mourning this loss, they do ask for privacy during this difficult time,” said a statement from a representative.
Condolences to his family, friends and fans. To honor this musical legend, here is a video of him at Woodstock.
