Robert Shapiro: Who Is The Lawyer Who Quit On Lindsay Lohan?

Lindsay’s first lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, dropped the starlette. Then last night, on the eve of her imprisonment, Lindsay’s new lawyer Robert Shapiro quit. It seems like a harsh thing to do less than 24 hours away from your client being locked up, but Lindsay is clearly unmanageable.

Robert has worked with many A-list names over his career, catching his big break into the celebrity world when he represented Johnny Carson for DUI and is most well known as part of OJ Simpson’s dream team. Other clients include  Darryl Strawberry, José Canseco,  Christian Brando, Linda Lovelace, and the Kardashians.  He has a solid track record and is known for being a plea bargainer.

Robert also co-founded LegalZoom.com, a document prep firm that allows people to download their own documents instead of hiring a lawyer.

And while he his career has been a long line of successes, his personal life has not been so spotless.  Robert’s son Brent had a long history of drug abuse that ended with his death.

Brent had been sober for 18 months after a stint in rehab before he fell off the wagon. He  was found dead of an overdose of ecstasy in an apartment in 2005. He had been enrolled in college at USC and was studying music with the long-term plan of becoming a lawyer like his father.

Robert founded the “The Brent Shapiro Foundation”, a non-profit organization with an aim to raise drug awareness, and started Pickford Lofts, the rehabilitation facility Lindsay recently checked in to.

If anyone could have helped Lindsay, it was Robert. He not only has the legal brains, but also the empathy and knowledge to deal with a drug user. When he was first hired by Lindsay he said: “Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with.  Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Ms. Lohan and Judge Revel in implementing a treatment approach recommended by medical professionals for Ms. Lohan’s long term recovery and sobriety.”

After going through two lawyers in record time, it will be hard for Lindsay to find someone to represent her.  Robert will appear on Larry King tonight and has been court ordered to keep all information on Lindsay’s case confidential.
