Ronald Reagan: Tribute at the Super Bowl? Really?

One thing about sports? It’s generally not political. It’s usually seen as an escape from being republican or being a democrat, Americas are rooting for their home team rather than their political party. But as with any big pop culture event, politics has away of seeping in. And the Super Bowl is no exception. On this Sunday’s game there will be a tribute to conservative icon President Ronald Reagan. Why?

Because today marks the 100th birthday of Ronald Reagan. Originally Reaganites had planned on great big event to celebrate his bday, but that whole Super Bowl thing got in the way. But they got something that will reach even more people, a tribute at the Super Bowl.  It’s being reported that just before the big kickoff, a tribute to Reagan will be displayed at Cowboys Stadium. Nancy Reagan, his widow, will surely be pleased.

Will it be televised for all to see? Not sure yet. But being that he is an icon for the conservation parties, that might be looked upon as being party politics rather than just a tribute to a past president.
