Rosie O’Donnell takes to Oprah Monday to promote her HBO documentary A Family is a Family is a Family which premieres on January 31. O’Donnell discusses her family, co-parenting with ex Kelli Carpenter and her plans to move in with present beau, mother of six, Texas-based Tracy Kachtick-Anders. She also seems to take a swipe at Carpenter, with whom she has four children, in the interview.Per People:
“Although we co-parent,” says O’Donnell, “we share equal time but we’re never really without them. Some are here. And that’s the way we did it. It’s free-flowing, and we do nights together, too.” Explaining that Carpenter “lives nearby,” O’Donnell also says that is still “not close enough. I wanted her to live in the same town, and she was, like, ‘I don’t know how good that’s gonna be for me.’ Like, what are you saying? You can’t exist okay. Calm down. Breathe. Everything’s okay.”
Divorce 101 would say don’t criticize your ex in front of your children. And being on Oprah is pretty much in front of everyone. What do you think — was that last remark, implying Carpenter is irrational and a hysteric, unnecessary, not to mention an overreaction to what was said?
