Rosie O'Donnell Wants to Buy Honey Boo Boo a House!Shana Aborn
Add another name to the growing list of stars who just can’t get enough of Honey Boo Boo.
Rosie O’Donnell tells People that she loves watching the mud-bogging, coupon-shopping, barbecue-eating, pageant-happy lives of Alana Thompson, mom June Shannon and the rest of their family on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
“I love Mama June. I love Sugar Bear. I love Chubbs. I love them all,” Rosie says proudly.
She even thinks young Honey Boo Boo has a lot in common with another star who shot to fame at a very young age: Shirley Temple. “She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years,” says the former talk-show host.
In fact, Rosie loves this young lady so much that she wants to help her in a very big way.
“I’d love to meet them – and buy them a house,” she tells the magazine.
As fans of the show know, the Thompson/Shannon clan live in a small house in rural McIntyre, Georgia, that’s literally on the other side of the tracks – the train comes right next to their yard. It’s modestly furnished and stocked with staples like toilet paper and ramen noodles that June gets free or at a discount.
However, they may not have to clip coupons much longer. Reports say that the family negotiated with TLC for a bigger salary after their second episode: a whopping $15,000 to $20,000 per episode. With that kind of money, not only could they afford more dinners out at their favorite barbecue hut, they could also buy a bigger house without Rosie’s help – one far from the railroad and with a nursery for June’s granddaughter Kaitlyn.
Will they, though? Maybe not. June has already said in interviews that she doesn’t want fame to change their family. And be it ever so humble, she enjoys her hometown and her home, which she decorates lavishly at Christmastime to entertain the neighbors.
What do you think? Should Honey Boo Boo and her kin do the Beverly Hillbillies thing – or stay true to their redneck roots?
