“Sex and the City 2″ is getting panned by critics and not exactly the box office bombshell that was anticipated (Shrek Forever After and Prince of Persia came in ahead of it) but Sarah Jessica Parker, shown here at the premiere, is still hoping to make “Sex and the City 3.”
“I hope Carrie will live on,” Parker said. ”She will live on — even if the movies don’t.” But what about not what SJP hopes will happen but what should happen?
Yes, Carrie will always live on — as will all the other characters. And fans, like me, will eventually forgive them for an awful sequel. Because the series and the first movie were so great. But forgiving two bad follow-ups? That’s a lot to ask. And the chances of them being able to regroup and make a fantastic third movie — one that lives up to the beloved series and amazing first movie — would be less likely than Samantha giving up sex post-menopause.
But if they do make a third, what parenting themes do you hope to see? I suppose it was a nice moment in “SATC 2″ that Miranda and Charlotte admitted motherhood is hard…
