Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyongo in Talks for Live-Action Jungle Book RebootJoanna Mazewski
First, Angelina Jolie in Maleficent and now this? Disney knows how to get me to the box office!
Current Hollywood sweetheart Lupita Nyong’o and pregnant mama Scarlett Johansson are in talks to star in a live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale, The Jungle Book. The project will be directed by Jon Favreau.
Both ladies are currently in the middle of negotiations with British actor (and forever hottie) Idris Elba for the highly-anticipated film. Lupita will be playing Raksha, the mother wolf who adopts Mowgli while Scarlett could possibly voice the character of Kaa, the python who eats other animals by hypnotizing them. Idris will be voicing Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film currently has a release date of October 9, 2015.
With Idris, Lupita, and Scarlett joining the cast, this film is destined for box office gold. Plus, it’s going to make me want to sing “The Bare Necessities” every minute of every day all over again. Because, why not?
