bonoSláinte is an Irish toast to good health!   Be sure to wish Bono Sláinte today for St. Patrick’s Day because the music icon is one of our favorite Irish celebrities!

Unless you’ve been living on Mars, you know that Bono is an Irish singer who is the main vocalist of the rock band U2.  Bono’s real name is Paul David Hewson and he was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1960.

Bono is a talented singer and musician but he is also a great humanitarian.  He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and was made an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.  Bono has received dozens of awards and recognition for his chartiable efforts and was named as a Person of the Year by Time Magazine.  It’s a long way from his humble beginnings in Dublin.

Bono was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, and attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School where he met his future wife, Ali.  Bono is married to Alison Hewson, who he started dating in 1975 and married in 1982.

The couple have four children: daughters Jordan and Memphis Eve and sons Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi and John Abraham.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and Sláinte to Bono!  Here’s toast you could make to Bono for St. Patrick’s Day:

Irish Saint Patrick’s Day Toast
Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here’s a toasting to his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again.
‘Beannachtam na Feile Padraig!’
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
