Snooki and Costars Will Star in MTV's "Restore the Shore" Fundraiser!

Snooki is active in relief fundraising efforts.

Seeing a tragedy or disaster on the news is heartbreaking, but when it affects the people you know or the town you call (or used to call) home, the grief goes even deeper.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her Jersey Shore castmates feel that way about the destruction wrought by Hurricane Sandy. Even though the house where they filmed most of the seasons of their show wasn’t badly hit, the town of Seaside Heights now looks like a war zone.

The leopard-print-loving mom jumped right into the relief efforts, urging her Twitter fans to donate to the Red Cross (you can text “Redcross” to 90999 to donate an instant $10) and putting together care packages of clothing for victims left out in the cold. Today, Snooki participated in the Good Morning America phone telethon (she tweeted this picture of herself on her way to the studio). It goes without saying that she’s setting a great example for her baby son, Lorenzo, to follow.

Now, all your Jersey Shore favorites are joining MTV for a major fundraising effort to air next week.

The “Restore the Shore” special will ask viewers to contribute to help rebuild Seaside Heights, which lost its famous boardwalk and countless homes and businesses in the storm. The money will go toward Architecture for Humanity, a nonprofit that helps design and rebuild structures for communities in crisis.

Snooki tweeted today, “#restoretheshore! @MTV, @archforhumanity and I are coming together to help re-build Seaside stronger than ever. Join us November 15 on MTV.”

Joining Lorenzo’s mom will be Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Deena Cortese and Vinnie Guadagnino. Other guests will be announced later.

The event will be broadcast live, online and via mobile starting at 11:00 PM ET, so there are plenty of ways to show your support.

As for Snooki herself, she and baby Lorenzo are living with her mother because the power is still out in her place. She continues to tweet faithfully to her fans, letting them know how she’s doing and how they can help – but she doesn’t take kindly to any snarking about the hurricane.

When someone tweeted that she should have disappeared in the storm, Snooki snapped back, “That’s not something to joke about. Sorry.”

Will you help Restore the Shore with Snooki?
