One of my few guilty pleasures is sitting my butt down on the couch every Monday night with a glass of wine (& sometimes some chocolate) and watching The Bachelorette. This season we get to watch Emily Maynard (who we previously got to know on The Bachelor) find her way to love with a bunch of way-too-hot guys, trying to find the perfect husband … and a dad for her daughter Ricki.
I have watched the whole season so far and last night Emily narrowed her choices down to the final two — cutting one guy loose at the end of last night. Now, remember she is not only trying to find a husband for herself, but she has a 6-year-old daughter she is hoping to find the right guy to come into their family of two — and stepping into the role of ‘dad’. That’s a lot to take on, but what shocked me the most is she let the guy go last night who seemed most ready to become not only a husband but a dad too!
I wasn’t the only one shocked by her emotional decision (spoiler alert! If you pvr’d the episode last night — don’t click through until you watch it):
The three guys all went on their single date with Emily in the gorgeous Curacao and they were love-y and mushy and all three dates seemed to be amazing. When the time came for the rose ceremony, Emily was very openly emotional coming to a decision on who to cut loose — eventually coming to let go of many’s top choice in the running (and my top choice) Sean.
He seemed to be the most genuine as far as being ready for both marriage and fatherhood. I mean the guy wrote an adorable letter to her daughter about how he would not take the place of her real father (who passed away before she was born), but would love to take on the role. Like I said, I wasn’t the only one who wondered where that decision came from — people took to twitter to voice their shock too:
It will be interesting to see where things play out over the finale (which is a few weeks away). I do hope she finds someone perfect for her (and Ricki), but one thing I do know for sure is Sean will have no troubles in the lady department.
:: Tell me — do you think she made a mistake letting Sean go? ::
