Super Bowl Declaration of Independence

Just prior to the kick-off of the official Super Bowl game, the NFL took the opportunity to remind the country of the importance of the freedoms we hold so dear by reading the Declaration of Independence.

The league teamed up with Fox Sports to remind the nation of the service and dedication of our armed forces.

Watch the NFL Declaration of Independence….

Following an introduction by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Retired General Colin Powell a variety of current and former players took turns reading the Declaration of Independence surrounded by groups of soldiers and community groups from across the country.  It has become an annual tradition before the start of the Super Bowl to remind the world of the sacrifices the armed forces made for our freedom.   This year’s Declaration of Independence included: Donovan McNabb, Drew Brees, Hines Ward, Art Donnovan, Anthony Munoz, DeMarcus Ware, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Donald Driver, Charles Woodson, Bart Starr and Jim Plunkett.
