Is Suri Cruise to blame? She’s just three-years-old so I doubt it really is her fault, but who is to blame for parents overspending on clothes, accessories and shoes for their little fashionistas in training?
The parents. They’re the the ones doing the buying and shelling out those credit cards. And the designer duds and spendy and stylish threads aren’t a necessity. Food and shelter, now those are neccessaties. According to a recent study in the UK by the mega-store Debenhams, parents are spending way more on their kid’s clothing in recent years. According to the survey they spent £700 (about $1037) per year for clothing. And if you have a girl, you’ll be spending way more. The survey also discovered that celebrity kids, like Suri, were “inspiring the purchase of trend-led childrenwear.”
A rep for the store said “’Brits are famed for a competitive neighbourly streak. Now it seems that where our kids are concerned, we’re keeping up with the Cruises!”
Do you think $1000 a year on clothes for your kid is a reasonable amount?
