Olympic champion swimmer Amanda Beard and husband Sacha Brown are the proud, first-time parents of a baby boy. Blaise Ray Brown was born in Los Angeles on Tuesday. It’s the week for mom athletes – on Sunday Kim Clijsters made history by being the first mom ever to win the U.S. Open.
In an interview with People magazine Beard gushed about her new arrival. “I was in labor for about 16 hours and it was all worth it. He is happy and healthy and everything went as planned,” she says. “It was the most amazing experience that Sacha and I have ever experienced. We are so happy to be new parents! This is gonna be the best adventure ever.”
Congrats to the new parents, and hope you get some sleep! But Beard isn’t about to let a minor thing like childbirth slow her down – she’s planning on competing in the 2012 Olympics.
