Celebs flock to SXSW to screen movies and meet with the geek elite. Celebs at SXSW this year include: Mos Def, Billy Bob Thornton, and many more. Also announced, a screening of the work-in-progress film “Bridesmaids,” the hilarious new film starring and co-written by Kristen Wiig, and produced by Judd Apatow.
And finally, we already knew Pee-wee was coming for a panel, now we know there will be a screening of the upcoming HBO special broadcast of “The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway.”
SXSW announced that his year’s closing night film will be “The King of Luck,” Billy Bob Thornton’s Willie Nelson affectionate portrait of the music icon.
SXSW Music is one of the largest music festivals in the United States, with more than 2,000 performers playing in more than 90 venues around downtown Austin over four days, in March. Though it is an industry-based event, SXSW Music links locally with events such as the annual Austin Music Awards show and Heart of Texas Rock Fest. SXSW Music also offers free musical samples of featured artists at each festival.
