As the original Teen Mom series draws to a close, it’s interesting to see how far the cast has come. One of the show’s biggest success stories has been Farrah Abraham, who has made a life for herself and her daughter, Sophia, in Florida. There, she raises her child while pursuing her various careers in cooking, writing and celebrity host of a dating website.
But it hasn’t been easy for her to maintain a good relationship with her parents, who fought against her move to Florida and tried to convince her to let them take care of their granddaughter. As she tells MomFinds exclusively, “I do get annoyed with how my parents talk to me and how they try to sneakily get their way and nag me.” Speaking about this week’s episode, in which her counselor tried to help the troubled family, Farrah says her folks “do not give me real support in terms of advice and being confident in my decisions and my life with Sophia.”
Despite her conflicts with her mother, Farrah is confident that she’ll be able to avoid similar dramas with her own child. She says:
‘m not concerned with history repeating itself. I think I have completely tried to show my mom and my whole family how to care and support for someone instead of adding aggravation and hardships. I’m very blunt and honest when there is wrong being done in my family. I try to have the best family as possible, and I work hard to keep my family together in a positive and healthy way. I make sure everyone communicates and that we confront an issue before it turns in to a fight. But talking, talking, talking is all it takes.
What’s one thing she doesn’t regret?Moving away from her home in Iowa, hard as it was. “I would still move to Florida again [if she had it to do over again],” says Farrah. “I can’t regret it. I needed Florida time.”
And her advice to other single moms who don’t have a family nearby is “to make sure you take 15 minutes out of the day for yourself.” Farrah also finds it helpful to schedule her time and activities in ways that allow Sophia to be with her.
Happily, things between Farrah and her mom have gotten better since that episode was filmed. In fact, they’ve put together their own line of hot sauce called Mom and Me!
What do you think the future holds for Farrah and her family?
