Teen Mom Maci Bookout Is A Mommy Blogger Now

Screen Shot 2014-03-28 at 10.50.40 AMIf there’s one Teen Mom who knows how to keep her name relevant by stretching her 15 minutes for much as possible (while doing some good!) it’s definitely Maci Bookout. The reality television star has started her own mommy blog, in which she’ll be sharing parenting advice for young parents out there and of course, her fans.

In her first blog post, Maci wrote:

Monday evening, I was enjoying my weekly episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (one of my favorite guilty pleasures). As I was watching, Bentley sat down next to me and began watching too. A few moments later, Bentley saw Miss Lawrence*. Then Bentley asked me:

“Why does that man have lipstick on?”

It sounds easy enough to teach the golden rule, and most of the time it is an easy thing to explain/show to him. But trying to quickly think of a responsible and respectable answer to a question like that, from a five year old boy, is NOT so simple. I may or may not have been freaking out a little bit….attempting to find the right answer, and fast.

Before I knew it, I simply responded with:

“Because he likes lipstick, and that’s what he wanted to do.”

Maci went on to explain that while technically that might have been the right answer, she wasn’t sure if it was the correct answer for her son. Either way, I totally appreciate Maci’s honesty in her parenting and how she understands that while kids aren’t looking for a long narrative for an answer, they do want something that is short, sweet and to the point. Who would have thought that Maci Bookout would be giving us these great nuggets of good parenting advice, right?

To read more of Maci Bookout and her everyday life as a single mom, check out her blog here. I mean, I might not be a teen mom myself, but there’s always something you can learn from other mothers who are experiencing the same ages and stages as your own children and Maci is definitely a mom I don’t mind getting good advice from!
