The Avenues: 5 Things About Suri Cruise's New School!Sunny Chanel
Suri Cruise had her first day of school last Tuesday. There has been much debate on what kind of school Suri would attend from a Catholic school (like her mom Katie Holmes attended) to a Scientolgy based school (which dad Tom Cruise would have backed), but Suri Cruise did not end up going to either. Instead Suri is going to the brand spanking new The Avenues: The World School, a private school that is located in the Chelsea district of New York City. “Avenues plans to be the best of this new breed of educational institution—hence its subtitle: The World School,” the website boasts.
Although Suri looked nervous on her first day, Katie has been trying to get her daughter excited about the big change. “Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers,” a source told Life & Style. “Suri’s really excited about it.”

The School’s Focus 3 of 5What is the focus of The Avenues? Here are what they focus on:
Core Academic Skill
First off, "core academic skills" you know, reading, math, history, science.
Their Mastery Program
They will encourage students to have an "area of depth and excellence" be it, "cello, running the 1,500 meters, or writing one's first novel." They find that colleges are looking for students with a mastered skill and will try to foster one in their students.
Stressing "Don't be afraid."
Diet and exercise will be big things that will be taught and encouraged amongst the students.
Getting into that really good school
Their end game is to get them prepared and ready to ace the SAT and essays to get into the school of their choice.
What Suri Will Be Doing 4 of 5What will Suri be expecting in elementary school? According to the head of the lower school:
"In Elementary School, new academic and social skills develop that will unlock the world. By providing experiences that engage imagination and curiosity, we build self-reliance and confidence. When children are authentically involved in the learning process they are motivated, persistent, industrious and enthusiastic. We build habits of mind and love of learning through work in literature, writing, math, science, the arts and the study of a new language. Each child has much to contribute and much to learn."
