It was 52 years ago today that a plane crash claimed the lives of three rock and roll legends. Still young, they died before the world got to see more from them.
Buddy Holly was only 22, Richie Valens only 17, and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson was 28. Buddy Holly left behind a pregnant wife. Such loss at such a young age, which is why Don McLean called this day “The Day the Music Died” in his song “American Pie.”
Waylon Jennings was supposed to be on that flight, but gave up his seat. What a life-altering decision.
