'Hunger Games' Movie: Josh Hutcherson Cast As Peeta, Liam Hemsworth As GaleNatalie
The Hunger Games is a young-adult science fiction series of books written by Suzanne Collins. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen (to be played by Jennifer Lawrence), lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem. The government all lives and works in a central city, Capitol, and holds all power. The Hunger Games are an annual event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death. It’s a televised event in which children battle to the death. Brutal, right?
After lots of waiting and speculation on who will play the male lead roles, it’s been confirmed that Josh Hutcherson will be Peeta and Liam Hemsworth will play the role of Gale.
You might remember Hutcherson from “The Bridge to Terabithia,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” and his supporting role in “The Kids Are All Right.” You will also see him later this year in the remake of the classic 1980’s film “Red Dawn.”
Hemsworth played opposite Miley Cyrus in “The Last Song.” You will see him later this year in both “The Throwback” and “Arabian Nights.”
We still have a ways to go before we’ll get to see The Hunger Games on the big screen; the film isn’t set to be released until at least March 2012.
Do you agree with the castings? Do the guys seem to match the characters that you have created in your head after reading the series?
