It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet …THE MUPPETS!
Next week we’ll have more than just turkey to be thankful for, we FINALLY – after a twelve-year hiatus – have a new Muppets movie to feast on. Twelve years, yup, that’s a long, long time. In those twelve years a whole bunch of us had kids, and have since become nostalgic for days or yore and the heyday of The Muppet Show. We, almost unanimously, all want to share Miss Piggy, Kermit, Animal, Gonzo and the rest of gang with our own kids. But there hasn’t been much of an opportunity beyond showing them DVD collections of the old shows – some kids find it dated, while mom and dad sit delighted.
But now we can rejoice that there is a fresh, vibrant and new Muppets movie. A movie made for the kids we’re trying to make love the Muppets AND the adults who are already sold. It’s got the hipness factor (it was directed by James Bobin of Flight of the Conchords fame, it was written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, and has cameos by the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Silverman and David Grohl) but it has Muppets, and lots of ‘em, for kids and adults alike.
Yes, the Muppets are back on Thanksgiving week, I for one am thankful.
The Muppets opens nationwide on November 23rd.
