Did you see Toy Story 3? Did you love it? Hate it? Think it was the best one yet? The third installment in one of Disney’s most popular franchises was released this summer, and millions flocked to theaters to see Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang take on daycare (and get a helping of hidden messages, of course).
Turns out the creative people at Disney-Pixar hide messages, like new characters or old plotlines, in their movies. For example, everyone’s favorite orange clown fish, Nemo, made his debut in Monsters, Inc. Usually there are one or two in each film, but Toy Story 3 ramped it up and stocked the movie full of great throwbacks and new faces.
So, what kind of blink-and-you’ll-miss-them messages were hidden in Toy Story 3?
It seems that not only do we get a look at a new character from Cars 2 (due out next year), but we also get great reminders of the first two Toy Story movies! Remember mean toy-experimenting kid Sid from the first movie? Look a little closer at the garbage man picking up trash. Forgot what year the original Toy Story came out? The train at the beginning of the movie will tell you all you need to know (and a little more about another Pixar film). And everyone’s favorite eatery Pizza Planet? Check out Andy’s calendar.
We also get appearances from the heartbreaking couple from Up! and a reference to the Buy “N” Large, the corporation that ruined the earth in Wall-E.
So, what do you think? Are you going to start watching Pixar movies with a keen eye from now on?
