Tiki Barber send the New York media world into a tizzy earlier this year, when rumors of his alleged cheating on spouse Ginny Cha emerged. Oh, and did I mention his wife of 11 years, his college sweetheart, was eight months pregnant at the time? Not pretty.
Now Barber, the former New York Giants running back, “Today” show correspondent and father of four, finally has addressed those rumors in an exclusive interview with “Entertainment Tonight” that aired last night. His girlfriend, Traci Lynn Johnson, who was an intern at NBC when they met, also spoke out.
What did they have to say? Keep reading for excerpts and the video.
Well, not surprisingly, they deny the cheating part. Barber says he’d moved out of his house and separated from his wife before anything happened with Johnson.
But they also try to put a good spin on the relationship, as you might expect of a man who left when his wife was expecting twins.
Here’s a rundown of the best excerpts, and the video appears below.
Tiki: “It’s hard, because everything is so skewed by the coverage, and by the perception.”
Traci: “I just feel that now is the time to just make sure the rumors that were said are revealed as false.”
Tiki: “We were only friends when I was still married, I was separated, out of my house so it wasn’t until then that we took things to the next level.”
Traci: “Tiki and I were romantically involved when he was separated, and plenty of people who are separated have boyfriends and girlfriends.”
Tiki: “My goal is to not have the kids suffer because of the failings of mine and my soon to be ex-wife.”
Tiki: “ I’m just a normal guy who had a job that people cared about, and maybe there is a standard to live up to that but it’s a hard one, for anyone.”
