Tim Gunn’s plan to promote his book Gunn’s Golden Rules seem to be to hate on everyone that is popular with the public, therefore demanding attention. And while he may speak the truth, he ends up looking mean instead of interesting. As we all know, acting like an ass is never fashionable.
Take for instance, his comments on Suri Cruise. Is it that hard to pick on a defenseless four year old?
During an appearance on Access Hollywood, Tim compares Lindsay Lohan’s run as fashion director at high-end design house Ungaro to “asking Suri Cruise to pilot a fighter jet.” He then goes on to say about the celeb spawn “Suri is, she’s her mother and father’s dress up doll and I feel in many ways she’s a fashion victim and it’s just very inappropriate.”
True, but seems kind of callous, no?
Tim also takes aim at the Real Housewives of DCcouple the Salahis. He calls them “sociopaths [who] believe their own lies,” and does not buy Michaele’s claim to have multiple sclerosis. It’s likely true (and partially great if only because the couple is listening on a live feed and he does not temper his disdain), but they are still a super easy target.
If Tim Gunn is going to pick on someone, he should stick to worthwhile opponents like Anna Wintour instead of little girls and those with obvious mental problems.
