This has been such a sad year for celebrity parents – Tom and Katie, Seal and Heidi, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito, Emily Maynard, just to name a few – that it’s nice to hear about a couple who looks like they’re poised to go the distance.
That certainly seems to be the case for Tina Fey and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond. Us Weekly reports that the two have a happy marriage based on fun and mutual interests.
A source tells the magazine, “He stimulates her mind. They could talk for days.”
And Jeff doesn’t forget the little courtesies. A witness at the 30 Rock series finale party notes that the two took a booth at the restaurant, where Tina ordered a cheeseburger and Jeff “put a centerpiece in front of her so she could eat privately.”
It’s not always easy for parents of young children to stay close and connected, but Tina and Jeff manage. They have two daughters: Alice, 7, and 14-month-old Penelope. And now that Tina’s show is almost a part of TV history, they’ll have even more time to spend with the girls.
The source says, “They are all about family now and they love being together. They never stop having fun.”
Tina is not only a devoted wife, she’s also a smart mom. An excerpt from her autobiography, Bossypants, has been widely circulated online by mothers who share her sentiments as she prays for her daughter.
Among her requests for her child: “Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes/And not have to wear high heels….”
And she once famously wrote in The New Yorker about the people who ask with an air of suspicion how she juggles work and family. “My standard answer is that I have the same struggle as any working parent but with the good fortune to be working at my dream job. Or sometimes I just hand them a juicy red apple I’ve poisoned in my working-mother witch cauldron and fly away.”
Here’s to many more happy years of wedded bliss and wise parenthood.
