The media is having a field day with the new that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are getting a divorce. It isn’t just because they are such a high profile couple, it isn’t just because they have a daughter who is as famous as they are, what makes the whole breakup have a far more fascinating angle is due to Tom Cruise’s dedication to the Church of Scientology.
Since Friday – when the news broke – there have been a slew of rumors about the couple and their daughter from how much Katie will be getting, to speculation that Katie and Suri are being followed by the church, to questions about who really is the biological father of Suri.
Katie Holmes was Cast in the Role of Tom Cruises Wife 1 of 11Could Katie Holmes have been recruited to play the part of Tom Cruise's wife? "The church went into overdrive to find (Tom) a partner. They put out a casting call for possible brides, telling them that there was an upcoming Cruise movie they might get a part in. Former Scientologist Marc Headley, who filmed many of the auditions, recalls that first they rounded up Scientology actresses like Erika Christensen, Erica Howard and Sofia Milos. None was deemed acceptable."
Then Tom and his "crew" apparently had to go outside of their Scientology circles, "They had to look outside the herd, so to speak. They went for Jennifer Garner, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba, in that order. Jennifer and Jessica didn't bite, but Scarlett took the bait and came in for an audition. When she arrived at the address and found out it was the Scientology center in Hollywood, she freaked out and didn't do a tape." Then they found Katie Holmes, who came their attention from an interview she did that said she had always had a crush on Tom.
True or False: It wouldn't be surprising in Hollywood for this to happen, there have been weirder things. But as of now, there is no real "proof."

Katie & Suri are being followed by Scientologists 2 of 11Over the weekend, right after the big divorce news hit, there were reports that a white SUV was camped outside of Katie's apartment and that they were agents of the Scientologist's HQ were following Katie and Suri and trying to keep track of their every move.
True or False: The New York Times quotes Gary Soter, a Church of Scientology lawyer, saying, "There is no truth whatsoever to the TMZ.com report (or any other report) that the Church of Scientology has sent anyone to follow or surveil Katie Holmes."
Tom Cruise's lawyer Bertram H. Fields, also shot down the reports saying to the New York Times, "No one is following Katie Holmes," adding, "that is not happening."

True or False: According to the New York Post, Scientology insiders said that months before Tom and Katie got married, it was agreed that Katie would stay wed to Tom for a minimum of five years. The two were married in November of 2006, so she did her five years and then some. But whether this expiration date on the marriage existed, is a bit unclear.

Katie Will Be Getting a TON Of Money 4 of 11Divorce depending on who are you married to can be very profitable. And Katie Holmes is looking at a giant payday to the tune of $18 million.
True or False: Reuters has reported that although TomKat's prenup is under wraps, Katie Holmes is expected to get $3 million per year of marriage which totals $18 million. Plus, according to Reuters, she'll also get their family estate in Montecito, California.
Tom Wants to Send Suri to Sea Org 5 of 11There has been some speculation that Katie ran from Tom because she was concerned that he would sign up Suri for Sea Org, the totally hardcore youth training unit of Scientology.

Katie Felt Like She Was Living the Film Rosemary Babys 6 of 11A source told Us Weekly that Katie felt trapped not unlike Mia Farrow in one of her most iconic roles. "Every move she made and everything she did was controlled . . . She felt like she was in Rosemary's Baby," the source said.
True or False: In Roman Polanski's masterpiece, Mia Farrow's character is trapped by a Satanic cult keeping tabs on her every move. Some do see Scientologists as evil but I doubt they were making Katie wear a pendant with stinky Tanis root in it.

Tom Wouldnt Let Katie Do a Dawsons Creek Reunion 7 of 11Professionally, Katie Holmes is best known for her work on the teen drama Dawson's Creek. It's where she made her name and where she has had her greatest success. "[Producers] were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie," a source tells Us Weekly. "Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad." They add that Katie, "didn't care how 'low-brow' he thinks Dawson's Creek is." They continued adding that. "She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun -- something she rarely does anymore."
Katie was reportedly game for the reunion saying to Good Morning America, that it "would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories."
True or False: Tom Cruise is not a small screen kind of guy. I, for one, could imagine Tom giving her work advice saying she shouldn't go back.

33 is Not a Magic Number 8 of 11Here is an odd coincidence...or not - each one of Tom Cruise's three wives left him when they were thirty-three years old.
The New York Post mentions the significance of the number 33 and a tie in with scientology. "The original membership organization for the controversial religious group, the Hubbard Association of Scientologists, was founded in Phoenix, Arizona, which lies on the 33rd parallel, Perez Hilton reports." They also note that, "the number is also the known as the "Master Teacher," which represents altruism and raising mankind's positive energy in numerology, according to Seven Life Path."
True or False: Age, it is just a number. Odds are the ladies being thirty-three probably has nothing to do the break ups.

Suri Is Actually the Daughter of Katies Ex Chris Klein 9 of 11Katie Holmes began to date Tom Cruise just six weeks after breaking it off with actor Chris Klein. There have been rumors for years that Chris Klein is actually the biological father of Suri Cruise. The story that has circulated was that Katie was already pregnant when she began to date Tom Cruise and that Suri Cruise's birthdate was fudged to make it look like it could be Tom's child. There are also rumors that Tom is actually sterile (hence why Nicole Kidman and Tom adopted). True or False: The conspiracy theory that Chris Klein is actually Suri's dad is an interesting one, but without a DNA test or a statement from Katie, we may never know. As for whether Tom is sterile, Nicole Kidman has publically said that they tried to have a baby but that she suffered a miscarriage which would squash the rumor that Tom is sterile.
Tom was Having an Affair with David Beckham 10 of 11Jezebel speculated about blind item:
"This celebrity couple is close to a final agreement over how everything including the child/ren is going to be divided in the divorce. However, the wife's legal team is having her keep one chip in her pocket for the divorce trial. If the husband's team tries any last-minute maneuvering, the wife is not afraid to reveal an incident where she (along with their child/ren) caught her husband in bed with a family friend of theirs. The friend is a professional athlete. In case you've been wondering why the couples rarely get together for more than an hour and a photo op this is the reason."
True or False: Yes the families are friends but David Beckham and Tom Cruise having an affair? That seems like it's going into crazy Richard Gere/gerbil or Rod Stewart/Stomach pumped rumor-land.
Katie Holmes Blacklisted & Tom Cruise Killed Her Career 11 of 11A friend of Katie Holmes believes one of the reasons for the breakup was that she was being blacklisted for being a Scientologist. "It's no coincidence why Katie hasn't been getting the roles she deserves," the friend said. Her most recent appearance was in the comedy Jack and Jill where she played Adam Sandler's wife. "She wants to win Oscars but instead has been getting fluff roles. There's a good reason why her husband has never won an Oscar," the source speaking about the conspiracy against Scientologists in Hollywood. "He was brilliant in Born on the Fourth of July and should have won. He was also denied for Jerry Maguire and Magnolia. Look at another Scientologist, John Travolta. He seemed like a shoo-in for Pulp Fiction but was also denied."
True or False: I think it probably has more to do with her talent as an actress rather than being blacklisted. Before she married Tom Cruise her career was not headed to Oscar worthy performances.
