That's Mr. Disney to You!

For the first time ever, the one and only Walt Disney will be depicted in a dramatic film. And the honor of playing the iconic entertainment figure goes to Academy Award winning actor Tom Hanks. Production began today on the Disney film Saving Mr. Banks. What is the film about?

The film will tell the tale of Mr. Disney’s twenty year struggle to try to try to secure the film rights to the novel Mary Poppins by author P.L. Travers (played by Emma Thompson) as well as the difficult issues that ensued when the “upbeat” filmmaker worked closely with the “uptight” author when working on the pre-production of the project.

“When Travers travels from London to Hollywood in 1961 to finally discuss Disney’s desire to bring her beloved character to the motion picture screen (a quest he began in the 1940s as a promise to his two daughters), Disney meets a prim, uncompromising sexagenarian not only suspect of the impresario’s concept for the film, but a woman struggling with her own past.”

I, for one,  can’t wait to see what Tom Hanks does with his portrayal of Walt Disney. What do you think of the casting?
