Top Chef All-Stars had a quick fire challenge judged by Joe Jonas tonight. They had to make a midnight snack for kids: something fun that could be eaten without any utensils.
The chefs usually have some sort of clue as to the taste of the judge, but this time, they were left clueless as to what Joe Jonas would like. They came up with everything from snickerdoodles to homemade chips and dip, muffins, and chocolate lasagna. There were some odd choices that I don’t really see kids eating.
In case you haven’t watched yet, I’ll tell you who Joe Jonas picked as the quick fire winner after the jump.
Joe Jonas had two favorites: Tiffani F.’s rice crispy treat snowball with malted milk and graham crackers and Spike’s homemade potato and carrot chips with mascarpone and marshmallow dip. A tie to be decided by the kids at New York’s American Museum of Natural History annual sleepover.
The kids went absolutely wild when they saw Joe Jonas! Though, all the sugar that they just had probably didn’t help. Not surprisingly, Tiffani’s snack won, earning her immunity.
The elimination challenge started immediately after the midnight snack challenge. The All-Stars had to join the sleepover and create a breakfast for the kids and their parents, cooking with whatever they happen to find in the museum’s kitchen. Their breakfasts had to be inspired by a dinosaur’s diet. So, it was the meat, eggs and dairy team against the fruits, vegetables and grains team.
There was some drama in the kitchen when Jamie had to go get two stitches because she cut her finger; most of the other chefs thought she should have sucked it up and kept going with the challenge. And there is always drama at Judges’ Table.
Katie Lee, who was the host of the first season of Top Chef, joined Tom, Padma, and Gail at Judges’ Table. Team Brontosaurus (the fruits, veggies, and grains team) won. The winning dish was the banana parfait: Angelo, Richard, and Marcel.
Team T-Rex(meats team) was the losing team. Jen was very vocal in telling the judges that she thought her team should have been the winning team. She wasn’t like this in her season!
Another shocking elimination for Top Chef: All-Stars as Jen went home tonight.
Were you surprised by who went home tonight?
