Before they got to that, though, they had a Quickfire Challenge. Dumbest idea ever to take that out last week. I hope they never do that again.
For this week’s Quickfire, the chefs had ten minutes to fillet and portion one cod and one fluke. Judging by the looks on the chefs’ faces, this was not going to be an easy task. The four who did the best had 45 minutes to make a dish using the parts of the fish that are usually thrown out. Dale was the winner and received immunity.
On to Restaurant Wars! The Top Chef All Stars had to create a pop-up restaurant: a restaurant outdoors that they have to set up in a day.
Dale was a team captain and got to pick the other team captain: Marcel. Marcel’s team: Angelo, Mike, Antonia, and Tiffany. Dale’s Team: Richard, Fabio, Carla, and Tre. For the first time ever, it was the diners, after eating at both restaurants, who would chose the winning team.
Marcel’s team had to be hating Dale for choosing him as a team leader, even though they all probably would have done the same thing.
It was so obvious that Dale’s team was going to win: their teamwork, their concept, their food, and the service. Watching Fabio take care of the front of the house makes me wish I could eat at that restaurant. Richard won the challenge and $10,000. It would be shocking if he didn’t make it to the finale.
Marcel’s team gave some fight at Judges Table and brought the drama. But, Marcel was the one eliminated from Top Chef All Stars tonight.
I don’t think any of the chefs were sorry to see him go. Were you?
