Is Your Baby's Name on the "Elite" List?

According to a piece in The Daily Beast, “what you want is a name as classy as a sterling teaspoon, as cool as vintage Balenciaga, as hard to locate as a wood-framed cottage in Manhattan—yet just as desirable.”  Yeah, maybe. But you also don’t want a name that is completely absurd.

The article is posted by a co-founder of Nameberry, which promotes itself as “the high-quality, intelligent source for stylish names.” So which names are discerning parents seeking out this year?  See the top 25 “elite” names for girls and boys for the first two months of 2010. The number after each name designates the number of places higher or lower each name is on the elite list compared with the most recent Social Security list.  You’ll see where the “elite” come up with their inspiration (well, by copying Jennifer Garner, Michelle Williams, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Connelly, among others).
