Are you ready for some football? Some TUESDAY night football! For the first time since 1946, the NFL is offering up a game on Tuesday night!
This once in a lifetime game is one to share with your little football fans who depending on the ratings may never get to see another one in their lifetimes. Of course if it becomes a ratings hit, the NFL may have a new night to take over the television networks.
The Tuesday Night Football game is a result of a perfect storm of sorts. The Philadelphia Eagles were set to face off against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night until a storm moved into the city. Not Minneapolis this time, but Philadelphia. The TV broadcasters gave dire warnings of a potential mammoth snowstorm which set the NFL on edge following the collapse of the Minneapolis Metrodome a few weeks earlier. Before even a flake fell, the league officials decided to move the game out to Tuesday night.
The last time any NFL team played on Tuesday night was way back in 1946 with the Boston Yanks facing off against the New York Giants. The Boston Yanks ultimately became a part of the Indianapolis Colts with stops in New York and Dallas.
