Troubled country star Mindy McCready is reportedly missing. And she is not alone. The 36-year-old mom disappeared with her 5-year-old son Zander.
The two went missing on Tuesday night while in Florida. Mindy apparently took her son after a dispute with the Florida court system.
Mindy currently does not have legal custody of her son but does have visitation rights. The singer has been plagued by drug problems, has attempted suicide and has been in rehab. Zander lives with Mindy’s parents in Cape Coral, Florida who are caring for their grandson.
Mindy and her son were last seen when she came to pick up her son at her parents home. But he was not brought back home. A missing persons report was filed and the judge ordered that Mindy must return her son to her parents by 5 p.m. on Thursday.
But Mindy countered by posting a Facebook message saying, “My son is not missing” and that “police established that this afternoon via Skype.” She added that, “I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home,” she writes. “Please do not worry.”
She has since wiped her Facebook page clean, all her wall messages are now gone.
On Wednesday she told Access Hollywood: “I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out, I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.” But the Associated Press is reporting that a Missing Person report was filed.
Hopefully everyone, especially her young son, will be home safe and sound soon.
