Vera Farmiga: New Mom Gets Sundance Nod as Director?

Vera-Farmiga-Sundance2011-NodVera Farmiga is having a good year!  New mom Vera Farmiga won a place at Sundance 2011 for her directorial debut, Higher Ground. The Sundance Film Festival announced the official lineup today.

The Oscar-nominated actress and husband Renn Hawkey welcomed new daughter Gytta Lubov Hawkey in early November, so the Sundance 2011 nomination is icing on the cake!

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Higher Ground is the tale of a frustrated young mother who turns to a fundamentalist community for answers. Not only did Vera Farmiga direct the film–she is one of the stars!  Higher Ground also stars Joshua Leonard, John Hawkes, Dagmara Dominczyk, and Norbert Leo Butz.

In addition to Baby Gytta, the 37-year-old Farmiga is also mom to Fynn, who is almost two.  This mama is smart, sexy with a smokin’ hot career!  Vera Farmiga was nominated for an Academy Award last year for Up in the Air but my favorite film starring Vera Farmiga is The Departed.

In case you don’t keep track, Vera has done love scenes with George Clooney, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio in the last two years.
