Veteran's Day! 15 Celebrities Who Pay Tribute to the Troops! (Photos)

Veteran’s Day is a time to pay tribute and honor those who risk life and limb to protect our country. These heroes, fighters, defenders and their families make so many sacrifices to keep the United States and all our citizens safe, as well as helping other countries all over the in their battles for freedom.

One way that our veterans and those in active duty are honored is with visits from some of our biggest celebrities. Stars from Angelina Jolie to Mark Wahlberg have flown overseas, sometimes to very dangerous places,  to meet with the troops while others pay tribute on TV and in bases here at home.

    Jessica Simpson
    Jessica Simpson has been a big supporter of the USO. She said of one of her visits to the troops, "'I feel so humbled by the sacrifice the troops and their families make to keep us safe. I'm forever changed after this last week. Thank you."

  • Mark Walhberg 2 of 15
    Mark Walhberg
    Mark Wahlberg gave soldiers a Christmas present with a surprise visit to Afghanistan. He also gave the troops a sneak preview of his film The Fighter and while there he met over a 100 troops. He said of his trip, "I just wanted to go over there and spend some time with them and know that we do appreciate what they're doing, and bring well wishes and love and support from home. That's all I wanted to do."

    Last year, Angelina Jolie made a stop at Ramstein Air Base in Germany to meet and visit with wounded soldiers as part of the USO's efforts to boost morale.

    This year Toby Keith celebrated ten years of entertaining and working with the troops. He said of this milestone: "We do a week on Afghanistan and then I think we do a week in Kuwait, Bahrain and we've been hitting… We started hitting aircraft carriers and doing a big show for five thousand a night on the aircraft carrier and then flying by helicopters out to battle ships and then doing two-man shows during the day. We should surpass 200 shows, 10 years our 10th anniversary and we've got it all documented and at some point I'm gonna put something together and show everybody what a wonderful 10 years it's been a trip and show you some wonderful warriors and heroes."

    Years ago Alyssa Milano paid a visit to the troops overseas back in 2004 and is still supportive and appreciative of them. She sent the military a sweet message below.

    Sheryl Crow traveled with Kid Rock and performed for the troops overseas. She said of her experience, "Once over there I felt extremely patriotic," Crow told USA Today. "Here are these people, from 18-year-olds to military veterans, enduring real duress for the cause of peace." She then said, "I don't ever want to play for a regular audience again, only military folks who are starving for music."
