Victoria Beckham Has Mom Guilt About Working, Too

vb1Even though I’m a stay-at-home working mom who types all day with my kids within arm’s reach, believe it or not, I have working mom guilt, too. Sure, my kids are with me 24 hours a day — but you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve said, “Not now,” “I’m busy,” or “Just give me ten more minutes!” As any WAHM will tell you, trying to get your work done while keeping the kids entertained is no easy walk in the park!

But yet so many people ask me, “Why don’t you just put your kids in day care?” with me responding, “What for?” I mean, what’s the point of me working when I’d spend more than half of it on childcare tuition, right? I figure that I only have a few more years until my kids go to school full-time and I finally get to relax while working at home. In the meantime, I’m just pulling my hair one strand at a time.

When it comes to the celebrity world though, it looks like there are a good handful of celebrity moms that feel the exact same way when it comes to working mom guilt. Take Victoria Beckham for example, who has four children, a thriving fashion career, and one of the busiest schedules out there. The British beauty recently told Vogue China:

“It’s a huge juggling act, when you are a working mother and looking after your family. Millions and millions of women around the world are doing this every day, but it’s not easy and yes, you feel guilty every time you walk out of the door to go to work.”

So, is there an answer to trying to make everything work when it comes to career and life? I don’t think so. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not easy and that at the end of the day something is sacrificed, and most of the time it’s your time with your kids. But on the other hand I want my kids to be proud of me, so hopefully one day they’ll look back at this time and fully appreciate all the hard work mama puts in!
