Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010: Would you let your teen son watch?

We joke about boys reading Playboy for the articles. Is letting them watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2010 for the musical performances any different? Watching the models strut, nay bounce, down the runway, I was struck by two thoughts: 1) I’m sure glad my son is in the girl-hating stage right now; and 2) if he was a teenager, would I let him watch the video below?

I’m leaning toward a big old no on the latter. There’s not much left to the imagination here, and while I know that kids today see a lot more skin than they did in my youth, when flannels and jeans were “in” rather than midriff-skimming tops, I’m surprised CBS can get this stuff past the censors. When did broadcast become Skinemax?

What do you think – would or did you let your teenage son watch this? (Trust me, this one is tame.)

  1. Mr Cool says:

Your son is going to grow up gay.

  2. Jason Nelson says:

Congrats, I am sure yor son will grow up more uptight and repressed than you are. Way to break the cycle. Very strong open minded, thought provoking parenting.

  3. Thomas Kincaid says:

I disagree with Jason. Toni Fitz 76 is not remotely open minded or thought provoking. Your son can see more at any public pool or beach and you find this offensive. Absolute nonsense.

  4. Pat says:

I have been watching this show with my teenage daughter and son since a couple of years ago. We enjoy the fashion, the extravaganza, the beautiful women, and musical performances. While we watch, we discuss fashion and the subject of models; I teach my son to respect women and my daughter to respect herself. My daughter does not wear bikinis to her school car washes. My son wears a t-shirt at the beach and feels comfortable talking about the subject of girls openly with the family; he finds girls who exhibit themselves at school distasteful and unattractive. CAN’T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR’S SHOW. GO VICTORIA’S SECRET!!
