Was Amy Winehouse planning on adopting a little girl before her untimely demise? New reports have emerged that the troubled singer had very much wanted a child and was taking steps to adopt a ten-year-old girl. Who is this girl who almost became Amy’s daughter?
According to TMZ and the Sunday Mirror Amy met the girl while she was in St. Lucia. The girl Dannika Augustine was apparently living in poverty in St. Lucia when Amy met her and her mother. The girl told reporters:
“Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me … She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”
The girl’s grandmother said she spoke with Amy just a couple weeks ago and she says the singer intended on returning to St. Lucia next month. She told reporters, “Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.”
The girl’s parents had both signed off on the adoption, perhaps wanting a better life for their daughter in London.
