Was Glenn Beck's Family Really Harassed at NYC Park? When Being Famous HurtsSunny Chanel
Political commentator and popular radio personality Glenn Beck attempted to have a nice family night out on Monday. He, his wife and his daughter went to Bryant Park to see an outdoor showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “The 39 Step.” But evidently the evening wasn’t as calm and peaceful as Glenn Beck had hoped. On his radio show on Tuesday Glenn Beck said going out and mingling with the masses was a “hostile situation,” saying that not only did someone “intentionally” kick wine on his wife’s back but that his family was met by a man pointing at them yelling, “We hate conservatives here!”
Glenn Beck added that… “If I had suggested — and I almost did — wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there’s a tree here. You could just lynch me. And I think there would’ve been a couple in the crowd that would’ve!” the radio-host said on his show.
“I apologize to anybody who had their movie experience wrecked because of the people that found it so necessary to spew hatred,” Beck said, “but there’s nothing I can do about it.” He added that he was “…A little surprised that nobody — nobody — in the crowd said ‘knock it off. Just, stop. Just be cool. I don’t agree with the guy, but just be cool.’ ” Instead he said it was a crowd of the “most hateful people I’ve seen.” And he said, “please leave my family out of it,” he said.
Really? Was it that bad? The man is known for his exaggeration. He is known for spinning things from simple to sensationalized. But in our culture there isn’t an on and off switch for being famous. If you’re famous you are famous 24/7. You can’t escape it. And sadly, neither can your family. They’re stuck there right with you.But as for what really happened, other people there at the movie “disagreed” with Glenn Beck’s rendition of what happened. One even noted that the wine spillage was purely by accident.
Do you think if someone makes their living by being famous for being polarizing and hostile that they should be prepared to receive some of what they are dishing out?
