Tonight it’s “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” on ABC at 8 p.m. Less famous than “Frosty” and less profound than “Charlie Brown Christmas,” it’s still an unappreciated gem that the whole family can enjoy. It tells the story of young Kris Kringle and how he becomes Santa Claus. The 1970 special was produced by Rankin-Bass, the same company that did “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Recognize the narrator’s voice? That’s Fred Astaire. And Kris Kringle is voiced by Mickey Rooney.
