What Did Kate Gosselin Give Her 8 For Christmas?

The kids think there's nothing "betta" than a new fish

Now it’s Kate Plus 8 Plus 1!

Now that all the wrapping paper has been cleared away, Kate Gosselin found a moment to share the details of her busy-but-happy Christmas morning on her blog – including the gifts her eight children gave and received.

One of the big hits of the day was the “surprise” Kate hinted at a few days ago: a Betta fish they’ve named Fabio. “Mady has been asking for a fish for as long as she can talk, I think!” They’re keeping it in a bowl that was once used to hold flowers.

What were some of the other gifts the young Gosselins unwrapped by the tree? Read on…

The boys received presents sure to entertain them for hours. Kate reports that Colin got LEGOs, Joel a laser tag game and Aaden a “grow a frog kit.” (Sounds like they’re going to need another bowl before long…)

The five Gosselin girls all got card-making kits, plus more techno-savvy gifts: Cara now owns a programmable robot, while Alexis, Hannah and Leah have this year’s hot toy, Fijit Friends – the little robotic figures that interact with their owners. Mady received a pearl necklace with a pearl that had to be harvested from the shell. And despite earlier reports that Kate was going to limit the gifts to just one per child, she adds that the children got “many many many more wonderful things.”

But Kate didn’t go empty-handed, either. Older girls Mady and Cara did some shopping of their own and bought their mom a panini maker! “I don’t typically receive much for Christmas, so it was fun to see their excitement when watching me open such a wonderful gift from them!” she exults.

In spite of their excitement, the eight children waited their turn for presents and even helped clean up afterward.  In between, they “slathered me with plenteous doses of wonderful hugs, kisses and thank-yous!” Kate says.

Now that the octet is well into school age, their mom knows that the innocent days of childish holiday wonderment won’t last forever. She notes that before long, little gifts like fish will be replaced by more expensive packages, and some Christmases may even be “anticlimactic.” So she’s cherishing the memories while she still can.

“Another Christmas, another day of magical memories that I’ll cherish forever,” she sighs. “Christmas with my 8 kids is the most awe-inspiring experience each year and I am, once again, so very blessed to be their mom!”
