What Happened to Oprah's Baby?

Oprah Winfrey shared a big family secret on her show today…she has a half-sister, Patricia Lloyd, who she never knew existed until recently. Besides having a secret sister, Oprah has another burden that she’s been carrying around for most of her life other than the family member she never knew. Oprah Winfrey was pregnant at the tender age of 14. What happened to Oprah’s baby?

Sadly, Oprah Winfrey’s baby boy died shortly after she gave birth to him. Oprah was completely ashamed of her pregnancy, and even contemplated ending her life rather than fessing up to the fact that she was expecting. She hid the pregnancy as best she could, and her mother Vernita Lee sent her to live with her father, Vernon Winfrey in Nashville.

Of her baby news, Vernon said, “I would rather see a daughter of mine floating down the Cumberland River than to bring shame on this family and the indecency of an illegitimate child.”

Oprah has said that losing her baby boy gave her a second chance at life. Perhaps she wouldn’t even be “Oprah” without the experience of having him for that short time.

I love Oprah. She is a wonderful person and blessed because of it. I hope she and her sister become close. It’s a beautiful story, reuniting with a sibling after all those years !

There is a lot of controversy on different sites about how long Oprah’ s baby lived. Some sites even called it a miscarriage. I believe that when a baby in utero is 7 months term it is not a miscarriage. Was her child named or given a burial?

I believe most of what Oprah has shared is false. Many of her relatives have said such including her father (such you read kitty kelly book on O). On Pierce Morgan, Oprah outright lies, telling Pierce that her Dad never knew about the pregnancy and that she went to visit her mother for the summer and had the baby there. True story is, her stepmother found out, took her to the doctor, came back home and told her dad. She then went into premature labor, the baby lived for close to two months in the hospital before dying. I question whether the baby died. Vernon, who is religious, said they never had a burial nor service to a baby who was named and lived. He states that he doesn’t know what the hospital did with the body. I suspect the baby was given up for adoption. Vernon states Oprah has “dark secrets”-one being this and the other is that she prostituted herself while her sibling were in the house. Her father (and other relatives) also appear to believe that the “rape” claim by Oprah’s uncle (vernon’s brother) was not what occurred but rather something different. You see Oprah was already selling herself before moving to her Dads. Not saying she wasnt victim of molestation, but I think it tarnishes her claims. By the way, family members suspect that the uncle was the father of the baby. Will be relieved when she is off the air. Never felt there was anything authentic about her. I’ve personally have heard stories that it’s all a farce, she is the polar opposite of what she presents to the public.
