What Is Appropriate Punishment for Mother of Pot-Smoking Toddler?

What could possibly motivate a mother to make her two-year-old daughter smoke marijuana? In this day of YouTube and reality television, it seems more parents are into taping their kids doing dangerous things for the “entertainment” of others. As I sit here, my blood is boiling, and I’m not sure sitting in jail is punishment enough for the mother, Jessica Gamble, 21. Perhaps people who are this irresponsible should not only lose the child they’ve abused, but never be permitted to procreate — ever again. Of course, I don’t think courts are allowed to hand down such verdicts, but Gamble does face as many as 11 years in jail.

“It is unbelievable to watch on video a mother teaching her 2-year-old child how to smoke a joint,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters told the local NBC affiliate, WLWT. “There are just some people who should never have children.”  There will be a hearing on September 20. View the video here, recorded from a cell phone, and tell us what you think the punishment should be.
