Where Are They Now?

Once upon a time they ruled our television sets, radios and movie theaters.  The stars of the 90s were the ones to watch who would be around forever until they just kinda disappeared. 

What are your favorite stars of the 90s doing now?  Helen Hunt won a slew of Emmys, an Oscar, and hasn’t been seen in eons.  David Schwimmer headed behind the camera.  Andrew Shue gave up acting altogether.   Some we’ll see returning to our tv sets this fall, others may have retired for good (or at least until the kids are grown up).

We’ve dug up all the details on some of your favorite stars of the 90s who decided to put fame on hold to focus on family….

    Helen Hunt hit it big in the 90s with her award winning role on "Mad About You" and her Oscar Winning role in "As Good As It Gets".

    Helen has been relishing in the role of motherhood since welcoming daughter Makena'lei in 2004.

    Gillian Anderson
    Gillian Anderson ruled the 90s as Special Agent Dana Scully on "The X-Files".

    While we haven't seen much of Anderson in the United States since the show ended in 2002, she has worked non-stop in Britain where she is raising her three children.

    Andrew Shue
    In the 90s Andrew Shue melted hearts in his role of Billy Campbell on "Melrose Place". Since the show wrapped, Andrew has focused on off-screen endeavors including co-founding the non-profit organization "Do Something" and the online website "Cafe Mom". Today he has his hands full with his three sons from his first marriage and his new wife's, Today Show contributor Amy Robach, two daughters.

    Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry
    Twins Tamara and Tia Mowry were the "other" set of twins to rise to fame in the 90s. The duo brought some comedic relief on the ABC show "Sister, Sister," which aired from 1994 to 1999.

    Tia currently stars as Melanie Barnett Davis on the BET show "The Game" and welcomed her first child, son Cree, with husband Cory Hardrict on June 28, 2011.

    Tamara Mowry has kept busy in the acting business starring on the Lifetime show "Strong Medicine" and on the brief ABC Family sitcom "Roommates". Tamara married Fox News Channel Correspondent , Adam Housley, on May 15, 2011. The twins will join forces this summer on the Style Network reality show, "Tia and Tamera" which premieres in August.

    Sarah Michelle Gellar
    Sarah Michelle Gellar slayed them in the 90s! The actress started the decade as the iconic Kendall Hart on "All My Children" and moved on to the infamous title role of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". She was also one of the television stars of the decade to also find a home on the big screen starring in the "Scooby Doo" films and "The Grudge" movie series. Off-screen, Gellar found love with "Scooby Doo" co-star Freddie Prinze and the two welcomed their daughter Charlotte in 2009. The actress is heading back to her tv home starring in the new series, "Ringer", on the CW this fall.

    Fred Savage
    Fred Savage melted little girls' hearts in the 90s as the lead charater of Kevin Arnold on "The Wonder Years". He's made a few stabs at returning to sitcom tv ("Working" and "Crumbs") but has found his true home behind the camera. As a director he makes the shows your kid's love -- "The Wizards of Waverly Place", "Zoey 101", and "Hannah Montana". Fred has also served as a producer for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Phil of the Future". Offscreen he's been busy raising his son Oliver, 4, and daughter Lily, 3, with his wife Jennifer.

    Alicia Silverstone seemed to be headed for superstardom after her debut in "Clueless" in 1995. A few hits (Batman & Robin) and some big misses (Miss Match) was all it took to bring her acting career to a screeching halt. Alicia married husband Christopher Jarecki in 2005 and the couple welcomed their first child, son Bear Blue, on May 5, 2011.

    Justine Bateman played the ultimate airhead, Mallory Keaton, on the hit show "Family Ties". Since the series ended, Justine has taken a stab at fashion design and television script writing, but still pops up here and there on tv. Offscreen she is busy raising her two kids - son Duke, 9, and daughter Olivia, 7.

    Dean Cain was the ultimate man of steel on ABC's "Lois and Clark". Since leaving his cape behind him, Dean has had a string of television guest starring roles. Off-screen he has been busy raising his 11-year-old son Christopher.

    Back in the eighties and nineties, Tiffany ruled the pop charts. When pop turned to grunge, Tiffany turned her focus to motherhood. These days she is teaming up with fellow former teen star Debbie Gibson for a summer concert series.

    Jenny McCarthy was hot in the 90s appearing on tv, movies, and just about every magazine cover. For many guys she was the perfect mix of hot chic and girl next door. Jenny turned her sites to motherhood after welcoming son Evan in 2002. Evan's diagnosis with autism turned into a personal mission for McCarthy who has spearheaded a movement of awareness about condition and the controversial assertations that it is caused by vaccinations. These days she has a string of best-sellers and a new daytime talk-show in the works.

    Jennie Garth is one of those actresses who never seems to age. From the teen queen role of Kelly Taylor on "Beverly Hills 90210" Jennie had been a fixture on television for over a decade. Acting is taking a backseat these days as she raises her three daughters with husband Peter Facinelli.

    Luke Perry has never really been able to leave his role of Dylan McKay on "Beverly Hills 90210". Off-screen he keeps busy raising his two children -- Jack, 14, and Sophie, 11 -- with his ex-wife Minnie Sharp.

    Michael J. Fox had it made in the 80s and 90s. Not only was he a major television star, he was a proven movie star too! His diagnosis with Parkinson's disease led to him semi-retiring from acting in 2000. Fox still makes the occassional appearance on episodic tv, but mainly spends his time raising his four children with wife Tracy Pollan.

    Another "Family Ties" alumnae, Tina Yothers has largely been missing since the series ended with the exception of appearing on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club". These days she has taken a break from acting to raise her two children with husband, Robert Kaiser.

    Christina Applegate can do just about anything - comedy, Broadway, movies, and triumph over cancer. Applegate followed up her hugely successful run on "Married with Children" with the recent short-term comeback on "Samantha Who". She'll be back on tv this fall in the new NBC series "Up All Night" which focuses on the funny side of parenthood.

Since leaving the show in 2002, Anthony has put acting on the back burner turning up in tv and film projects here and there. He did have a major hit with last year's HBO film "Temple Grandin" for which he served as executive producer.

    David Schwimmer was half of the 90s tv super-couple Ross and Rachel on "Friends". After the show wrapped up in 2004, David turned his attention to directing. He has two films to his credit, "Run Fatboy Run" and "Trust". In June 2010, he married British photographer Zoe Buckman. The couple welcomed their first child, Cleo, on May 8, 2011.

    Nikki Cox was majorly hot throughout the 90s and early 2000s. From her role as Gina Williams on "General Hospital" to her role as Tiffany Mallory on the sitcom "Unhappily Ever After" through her four-year stint on the drama "Las Vegas", Nikki was everywhere. She has been married to comedian Jay Mohr since 2006 and the couple welcomed their first child, son Meredith Daniel, on May 5, 2011.
