After rampant internet rumors about Whitney Houston’s death, tonight her publicist, Kristen Foster has confirmed the singer has died at the age of 48.
TMZ is reporting she died at the Beverly Hilton hotel. A police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel just moments ago. Additionally, police officer Mark Rosen tells CNN officers responded to a 911 from someone in Houston’s “entourage” at the Beverly Hilton. Paramedics found people trying to revive the singer, who was a guest at the hotel, but she was pronounced dead at 3:55pm.
Houston has one child, Bobbi Kristina, 19, with husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married from 1992-2007.
TMZ spotted, Whitney out and about just last weekend with on-again/off-again beau Ray-J. She was also spotted yesterday, as you see in the photo there, and seemed to be doing okay.
Houston famously battled drugs and alcohol during and after her tumultuous marriage to Brown. But, in early days, the singer’s rise in the industry was meteoric. She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey. However, by the end of her career it was obvious drugs had taken their toll. She famously confessed to Oprah that she abused cocaine, marijuana and pills. Most recently she seemed to be doing much better. And again, no word on the cause of her death.
