Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Dolman graduated from the University of Western Ontario where she majored in Philosophy. She worked for the Canadian Rock Theatre on stage for Jesus Christ Superstar where she first met Short in 1972.

Dolman appeared on Second City Television” and “Pie” as well as in her husband Martin Short’s 1985 cable television special Martin Short: Concert for the North Americas, but she is most well known for her role as Annie Selig Tate on the ABC cult sitcom “Soap”,
She was an understudy for Gilda Radner who dated Short first
It was during the 1972 Toronto production of Godspell that Dolman began dating Short. Dolman was the understudy for Gilda Radner, who had dated Short first.
She is Aunt to Andrea Martin’s kids
Dolman’s brother, Bob, is married to friend and former colleague Andrea Martin. Martin starred on SCTV with Martin Short. Dolman and Short are aunt and uncle to the couple’s two sons, Jack and Joe.
She retired from Showbiz to be a Wife and Mother
Dolman and Martin have 3 children together, Katherine, Oliver and Henry. In 1985 Dolman decided to retire from show business in 1985 to focus on her family.
