White House Press Secretary (and dad) Robert Gibbs has stepped down as the voice of the White House. He will be leaving his post as being the spokesperson for President Barack Obama. But why is he stepping down from this high profile gig?Obama pretty much summed it up when he said in a recent interview (when rumors that Robert Gibbs were being bantered about.)
“He’s had a six-year stretch now where basically he’s been going 24/7 with relatively modest pay. I think it’s natural for someone like Robert to want to step back for a second to reflect, retool and that, as a consequence, brings about both challenges and opportunities for the White House,” President Obama told the New York Times.
Gibbs will be an outside consultant, will stay put in Washington, D.C., and will continue to be a confidant to Obama. There is also word that he’ll be hard at work planning Obama’s next presidential run. And hopefull since he has a young son at home, he won’t be working 24/7 and have some quality family time!
