Why Did The White Stripes Break Up? Or Rather Why Now?Sunny Chanel
Here is the question of the day, it’s not why did the White Stripes break up but rather why did they break up now?
It’s been four long years since Jack and Meg White have put out and album. They haven’t toured. They haven’t played. And Jack White has been busy with his own projects like The Ranconteurs, The Dead Weather and raising two kids (ages 3 and 4). It’s not like the White Stripes break up was some shocking surprise or an unpredictable event. But why did they feel they had make an official announcement? Were they just tired of having to answer questions like “when will the White Stripes do a new record?” or “when will the White Stripes play again?”
There announcement was vague saying:
“The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health,” the two said . “It’s for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.”
It does make sense. They did six albums and probably ran the course of their sound during those records. They did what they set out to accomplish, and then some. Who really thought a garage duo from Detroit would become as successful as they did. And Meg White was having issues with anxiety which made touring a challenging concept. Plus Jack White moved on, and on and on with not just his career but his life.
Why do you think they felt they had to make the annoucment now?
