George Clooney is a single man yet again. America’s favorite bachelor and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis have called it quits. Many thought that not only would this pairing last but that she could be the one to turn him – finally – into a dad. But that was not in the cards. She even addressed it in an interview saying, “”[Getting pregnant has] never been an objective for me,” Canalis said. “My maternal desires are fully satisfied with my dogs.”
Clooney himself said: “I don’t have any interest in [having kids],” he told Vogue in 2000. “I just don’t think that it’s something you can do casually.” He also once said, “After doing One Fine Day and playing a pediatrician on ER, I’ll never have kids. I’m going to have a vasectomy.” And also noted that “I love children and I get along with them great. It’s just that I believe if you’re going to be a parent, there has to be something inside you that says, ‘I want a family.’ I don’t feel that sense of urgency.”
George Clooney is so adamant about his not wanting to have children that he even made a big money bet with a couple A-listers on the topic. Nicole Kidman and Michelle Pfeiffer both bet him $10,000 each that he would indeed become a dad by the time he was 40. They lost. Each of them graciously sent him checks. He sent them back saying “double of nothing” betting them that he won’t have kids by the time he turns 50.
