While Jesse was involved when the choice of where to adopt from was made, you can’t ignore the coincidental symbolism-She’s a woman rebuilding her life with a child from a city that is itself being rebuilt.
“New Orleans is his city, and he is going to know it inside and out,” she tells People. “Without the spirit of the people who live there and take care of the city and honor its traditions, its love for music, its love for life, take those people out and you don’t have why I love New Orleans so much.”
Sandra has been fiercely supportive of the troubled city in many ways:
-After Katrina, Bullock donated thousands of dollars to Warren Easton Charter High School, the first public high school for boys in Louisiana. The school sustained $4 million in damages and her funds were used for renovations, new band uniforms and a new health clinic.
-Sandra owns a 60,000 sq foot home in the Garden District of New Orleans.
-Michael Lewis, who wrote the film Sandra won her Oscar for, hails from the Big Easy. She used the Blind Side premier in the city as a fundraiser and created a $10,000 college scholarship.
Sandra Bullock: Award winning actress, mom, and do gooder. I don’t know about you, but it makes my heart just swell up with love for her even more.
