Emmy Award-winning actress Katherine Heigl is due back on the Grey’s Anatomy set March 1, but speculation is she won’t be there for the long haul. The new mom, who took a three-month maternity leave to bond with adopted daughter Naleigh, has complained publicly — on television no less — about the grueling hours of filming the television show.
In July, she told David Letterman: “Our first day back was Wednesday and it was — I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them — a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean.”
She also notoriously took herself out of the running for an Emmy one year because she said the material provided for her role wasn’t worthy.
Insiders predict Heigl will leave to pursue her very successful movie career, but chances are we won’t know for sure until this summer. Right now, Heigl has five films in the works and one due out in June.
