Is 9 years old too young to be signed to a record deal? Not if you’re the daughter of two of today’s biggest stars! Willow Smith, the daughter of Will and Jada Smith was just signed to a record deal with Roc nation records – the record label owned by Jay-Z! Willow’s debut single, ‘Whip My Hair’ already has over 150000 hits on YouTube since debuting 2 days ago.
Jay-Z spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on Thursday and compared Willow to Michael Jackson, saying “I heard the record first before I knew that it was recorded by a nine year old and I was like, man that record’s a smash,” “I believe in superstars. I believe in big records and in superstars and I think [Willow] has both.”
“She has a child’s innocence but she has a clear vision of who she is and who she wants to be,” he continued. “I can only imagine that’s how Mike [Michael Jackson] was as a young kid, he knew exactly what he wanted.”
Now I will admit that the song is catchy, but do you think that the reason Willow already has a record contract is because of her famous parents? And do you think she’s too young for this kind of exposure? Jay-Z doesn’t think so, saying that “When you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young,”
Do you agree, or do you think Willow Smith is too young for this kind of exposure?
